Friday letter    Morphemes    Crossing Schedule

A small town girl, I was born and raised on a ranch 20-30 minutes from anywhere!  I learned a lot growing up a farm-girl, and contribute much of my life success to that attribute.  Living out in the "boonies", as we called it, provided many learning experiences; the largest, working hard.  Our family worked as a team to raise cattle, horses, and occasionally other animals, as well as farming (hay, wheat, barley, and canola). Each of us ( I have three sisters and one brother) was expected to lend a hand at all times.

I attended elementary and high school in Nezperce, Idaho, 30 minutes from our ranch.  It wasn't the closest town, but the only district that would send a school bus to fetch us! J During my school years, I played volleyball for one year, AAU basketball which allowed me to travel to many interesting places and four years of varsity basketball.  I still love basketball to this day!

After high school, I moved to the Lewis-Clark Valley, and attended college at Lewis-Clark State College.  I began in business, because it was always my dream to own my own business.  After my first year of college, I was not motivated by my classes (except accounting) and decided to go out on a limb and try teaching.  From the moment I started my practicum at Holy Family School in Clarkston, I knew teaching would be fabulous.  It kept my mind motivated and the reward of seeing a child learning was out of this world.

I continued to attend LCSC all four years; completing my student teaching in Lewiston at Webster Elementary in the 4th grade.  There I team taught with a friend, another LCSC student, whom we never thought we'd be able to teach without the other.  After graduation, I applied for jobs in the surrounding areas, and accepted a job in Colton, Washington teaching a combined class of 5th and 6th graders at Guardian-Angel St. Boniface School.  I was very excited, because this job was a Catholic School, and to me, that was very important.

I taught for two years at Colton, while commuting from Lewiston.  At that time, a job opened at Holy Family School in Clarkston for the 6th grade.  I wasn't ready to move on, and had actually thought I already had long term plans in Colton, but when opportunity knocks, you normally aren't ready. I did a lot of soul searching, and knew that I had been waiting for this moment since I did my first practicum at the school.  It was then that I decided if I waited until I was ready, the opportunity probably wouldn't be there, so I applied, accepted the position and here I am today, very pleased with my decision! J

Here at Holy Family School I teach 6th grade, as well as 4-6 grades Math.  My experience here at Holy Family School has been very rewarding, and I am excited to start my long-term planning goals again.  It is wonderful to be involved with a community and school that have the same interest in mind for children--success! J

My husband, Ryan, is my main supporter and always willing to help when I need him for anything.  We got married in 1999, after being together for six years and continue to enjoy our time together.  He is a true “handy man”, who does a little of everything, but works as an electrician; he worked in Lewiston for Johns Electric for eleven years, and now works for WSU/Life Safety in Pullman. Together, we live in the Orchards, and truly enjoy digging into home improvements.  Two sets of hands make light work!

In 2007 we were blessed with our first children, Logan and Myles; yes, twin boys!  We truly enjoy them and love watching them grow.  They keep us busy in a wonderful way and we can't imagine life without them.
