Dear parents or guardians,
Each year at this time I communicate with parents and students regarding tuition and fees for the next school year. Each year we work hard to balance the financial pressures you face as a parent or guardian with the increasing costs of providing the first-rate education you expect from Holy Family School.
We continue to track the economy, fully attentive to the impact it might be having on you and your family. We are pleased to announce that there will be no increase to our tuition for the 2011-2012 school year and we will forgo the Non Catholic rates and keep one rate for all families. We will have a slight increase in our registration fee as to help cover the rising costs of textbooks and supplies. We are fully aware of the difficult economic environment that is pervasive to our times; however, in the face of this challenge, Fr. Root, the pastor, and I remain committed to advancing our academic program. The mission of Holy Family School remains the core of all we do, therefore we will keep taking steps forward to achieve our goals, and offer the best education possible for each student. We are proud to partner with you again in the coming year.
Please take the time to fill out the attached registration forms and return them to school as soon as possible. It is important to us to know if your child will be returning to Holy Family School next fall in order for us to begin planning for classes, preparing our budget, ordering supplies and make plans in our scheduling.
Kindergarten: Holy Family offers a full day Kindergarten or the option of half day Kindergarten in order to meet the needs of your child. The full day Kindergarten is a regular school day which goes from 8am - 2:40pm each day. Half day Kindergarten is from 8am - 11:40am. All students who attend the morning session will be instructed in the regular core Kindergarten curriculum and those choosing the all day program will receive enrichment activities to support the core curriculum.
Scholarships: We are fortunate to have some scholarship money available on a first come basis and depending on need. Because of limited funds we are unable to grant full scholarship to families. A scholarship application is attached to the registration packet. This information is kept confidential. We are willing to work with families in regard to paying your tuition to help make your experience at Holy Family School a positive one.
Holy Family School is dedicated to providing our community with a quality faith based education for those families who accept the responsibility of working together with the school to make a Catholic education possible for every child. We look forward to serving you in the new school year which will begin on August 30th, 2011.

1. There is a registration fee per child due at the time of enrollment. This fee helps to pay for books, supplies and materials used in the classroom. This fee is to be paid at the time of registration and is not covered by scholarship.

Kindergarten will be a full day (8:00 – 2:40) Parents can opt for ˝ day of Kindergarten and students will be released at 11:40 a.m. This is parent’s choice. Please indicate if you choose ˝ day Kindergarten.

**Tuition payments are due at the beginning of each month. If you choose to pay at a different time during the month please let the office know. Tuition must be paid in full by June 2012. Families experiencing financial difficulties may apply for scholarships and grants. Requests will be filled to the best of our ability, however, scholarship resources are limited and you may not receive the full amount for which you have applied.
**We accept cash, checks and VISA/Mastercard payments. You may also check with your financial institution to set up an automatic payment plan to Holy Family School.
A service fee will be applied to all returned checks.
3. Scholarship Aid is available to those who need tuition assistance. Scholarship applications are attached to the registration pack and need to be completed and returned to the office with your registration fees. Individual family needs are taken into consideration when awarding scholarships. The Scholarship program receives funding from the Landkammer Estate, Annual Angel Appeal and private donors. In order to receive a scholarship it is essential that you make regular monthly tuition payments. In addition to regular monthly tuition payments each family is required to participate in fundraisers, volunteer at least 30 hours at the school and purchase Scrip. These are areas we depend on to keep the school operating.
4. Clarkston School District provides us with BUS services. (Prices could change after the district board meets in the summer)
Our office will bill you (3) times per year if you choose to use this service. Cost is:
1 child - to and from school $10.00 per month 1 child - one-way $5.00 per month
5. Hot Lunch Program: Clarkston School District provides us with daily hot lunches.
Costs for the hot lunches are as follows: Grade PreK - 6 $2.25 Cold Milk $ .35
You may pay for these lunches daily, weekly or monthly. We also will bill you monthly if you choose.
Lunch bills need to be paid in full by the end of the billing period as we have to pay the school district every month. Students will not be able to charge hot lunch if accounts are not kept current. Free/Reduced lunch applications will be given to everyone at the beginning of the school year and are available anytime throughout the year. (Prices could change during the summer after the district board meets)
6. Volunteer Hours: Parent involvement is essential for the success of our school. We ask that each family volunteer a minimum of 30 hours per year. Parents can volunteer in a variety of ways from lunchroom helper, building maintenance, classroom helper, field trip drivers, recess duty, and helping to make our major fundraisers successful. These include our Annual Auction, Magazine Drive, Cookie Dough Sale, Scrip Program and Fun Run. Volunteer forms will be sent out at the beginning of the new school year at which time you can sign-up for various ways to help your school.

Scholarship Application
At Holy Family School we believe that every child should be provided with a strong Catholic education. We work hard to make this education available to your family through Parish support, fundraisers, scholarship assistance and by trying hard to keep tuition cost within reason. At the same time we have responsibilities to pay the general operating cost, maintenance of the building, wages and insurance of our employees. We factor all of these costs within our budget and rely on the faith and support of our parish, school and community. The actual cost of educating one student is over $5000.00 for a school year and our tuition is based on this figure. We will make every effort to award each family who applies for assistance a portion of the allotted funds available for scholarship. Every family is required to pay something as no full scholarships are awarded. The scholarship monies are funded through the Landkammer Scholarship, the Annual Angel Appeal and private donors. We take pride in making our school and all we have to offer available for all faiths and denominations. Receiving scholarship does not affect your registration fee, hot lunch or day care costs and these bills must be kept current.
We appreciate your choice of Holy Family for your child. We are here to work with you as your child’s primary teacher. We appreciate your support and efforts in any way possible to help our school remain a strong, faith filled learning environment.
